Canon Digital Rebel 300D Universal Remote with Nevo on iPAQ

hi,

I tried it, but the file you provided cannot be loaded into nevo (iPAQ 2210, WM2003) it is serial and library sensitive... sadly...

I tried it anyways, but it doesn't seem to work (I own the european model, EOS 300D)

I think I have to wait until mynevo.com makes it available ;-)

Thank you anyway for your GREAT effort! I really like this initiative!

Hi!

I encountered the same problem. But I got it working. It seems to have something to do with the serial number. The one of the file is "010403TWC3521PSX" (as in the filename), the one of my (european) Nevo is "010403TWC3260HPK. So what I did was opening the file in an editor and replace this number with my one. I also replaced the whole file name but I don't think this is necessary.
Nevo then still complained about something being wrong, but I was able to choose Canon as manufacturer and the whole thing is working :-)
Thank you!

Tried it, even with changing the serial number embedded in the file, but it doesn't work. Guess I'll have to wait for MyMuvo to post the correct file.

I'll contact Nevo support again, perhaps they can post the device file sooner or provide another option. Not sure why it worked for Martin...

Ok, below is the response from Nevo regarding the device file. If you want it sooner rather than later, contact tech support.

My question to Nevo:
There seems to be a lot of interest for this (RC-5) device. Any chance it can be posted to mynevo.com sooner? Will the file you sent me work on anyone's
Nevo with the same library version?

Nevo's Response:
Codes are only posted periodically to the web site. (They are done all at
once--many codes at a time). Until the next publish, the only way to get
new codes is through the support@mynevo.com address. To answer your second question; no, each file is tied to the user's Nevo serial number, so each individual user would need a new set of file(s).

Thanks for the update, Nick. It is strange that they would make files tied to the serial number of each individual's devices . . . Sound like they want to control what each individual runs on their Nevo . . .

Hi there,
I just got my personal file from the support. Regarding, the serial number problem, the support guy answered the following:
"Regarding your question about associating serial numbers with the files, yes, there is the additional step of adding the serial number when generating the code file, but that is only manually done when the code is not available on MyNevo.com. As the vast majority of codes available are on the web site, most of them are done automatically."

Hi,

changed the serial number part of the filename to match mine, and used a free hex editor form:

Freeware Hex Editor XVI32

to change the serial number inside the file.

All worked then. It seems as though any of the buttons work as the 2 sec shutter delay button, although sometimes you need to press a couple of times for it to work.

Cool.

ok, I tried to get the file from Tech Support and they had me try a file for a TV brand name Telefunken, selection #26. apparently the mute button is supposed to work. It didn't for me. So instead I used a hex editor to modify your file. I had to change the serial number in the file name. I also changed the serial number in the file. I still got errors and found that if I changed the 109th and 110th decimal characters in the file to match the 11th and 12th digits in my serial number the file loads into Nevo fine. The only problem I have now is that although I can control my TV from 20 or so feet away, I can only get the camera to work from 2-3 feet. It does finaly work though!

I doesn't work for me. I tried everything from this site but the camera won't react on my Ipaq. Any suggestions?

Raymond,

I suggest you contact NEVO tech support and ask them to send you the device file for the Canon Digital Rebel. They will need your version and serial number. Sure hope NEVO posts this file soon - then you all can enter your serial and version on their web site and download the proper file.

Hi,
If you just do as Richard suggests.
But you can just open the file in Notepad instead of a hex editor - change the serial No to your serial No and save it - then rename it to your serial No afterwards - works a treat!!!

I have just been in contact with Nevo and the following info was provided and it works form me.
You can download codes that should operate the Canon 300d camera.
In order to get these codes, you will need to register on our free
www.mynevo.com website.
Once there, you will go to the Download Center and choose the "VCR" device
type,
and the "Canon" brand name and download the information .

After you have transferred the information to your iPAQ using the "Active
Sync" program,
you will:

1. Open Nevo
2. Choose "Add a Device" on the wheel
3. Choose "VCR" in the drop-down menu
4. Choose "Select Brand Downloaded from MyNevo.com"
5. Choose your brand,(Canon), from the drop-down menu
6. Test the #3 and the #6 codes. One of these is the one that works with
your unit.
7. Finish the "wizard" and you will see your device on the wheel.

#6 works, there are a large number of buttons displayed, but I found page 1 Select button works.

Paul,

Thanks for the info; glad to see Nevo finally posted the file.

Chieh,

You may want to now update the procedure (in the article) to reflect paul's findings.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have an idea for those symbian mobile phones to operate 300d? I'm using the Psiloc's Total ir remote program and it has a section which is available to enter ir codes and create your own commands, yet i didn't manage to get it work. Also, i looked up the list for Telefunken, but in the vast list they had left Telefunken out. Wish anyone have an idea. Thanks.

Hi Make sure your serial number is correct on the Nevo web site. I spent ages with a digit out. Select works fine with my 350D.

John.

Hi, where did you find Select button on the Canon VCR page? I tried #3 and #6 codes, but could not find it there.

I downloaded the Canon VCR file from mynevo.com and entered the correct serial number for my iPaq 2210 and created the VCR device in Nevo okay but it STILL wont trigger my Canon EOS 350D (UK model). Any suggestions?

File from MyNevo does not work for me (h2210, 350D), but obsoleted procedure (with changing serial number in file and file name) works well.

For me the echostar sat receiver (number 8) worked. most of the number buttons will immediately release the shutter.

None of the Canon VCR files have worked for me (HP2210, UK 350D) but Hanno's Echostar discovery works a treat! Thanks

Works fine for me. Hp3970 and 350D. Used option no 4 and works with select button. Only issue is that the range is only about 5 feet maximum.

iPAQ 2210/2215 with Canon EOS 400D - option 4 and select button.

It either does not work for 400D with iPAQ rx3115. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks.
